Fr. Barron on Superman: Man of Steel

This was a really profound analysis- comparing Superman to the philosophical and political struggle between freedom and control is interesting to say the least.

It is important to remember that in The Republic, Plato admits that his "perfect state" is neither plausible nor desirable, until "kings are philosophers and philosophers were kings". He did, in fact, recognise the danger of giving people power over other people. But in all, saying Plato is the father of totalitarianism is not far from the mark.
