10 Things God Will Never Ask You

10 Things God Will Never Ask You

  • 10 - What do you do?  But, He might ask:
    Who are you?
  • 9 - How much money do you make?  But, He might ask:
Who else did you help with the resources I gave you?
  • 8 - How many friends do you have on Facebook?  But, He might ask:
How many people did you help come to know me?
  • 7 - Do you think you are attractive?  But, He might ask:
Don't you realize the beauty I built within you outshines whatever you look like?
  • 6 - What took you so long to seek me?  But, He might ask:
Do you know how happy I am that you are here with me?
  • 5 - How respected are you by others, and do others like you?  But, He might ask:
Were you ever ashamed of me before others?
  • 4 - Did you get your way?  But, He might ask:
    Did you live my way?
  • 3 - Will you do something you are incapable of achieving?  But, He might ask:
Will you live out the calling I give you no matter the cost?
  • 2 - Will you take up my cross and carry the burden of your sins?  But, He might ask:
Will you take up your cross and allow me to carry the burden of your sins?
  • 1 - Will you please save your self?  But, He might ask:
Will you say yes to my grace and allow me to save you?

Actually, it is the Vorlons who ask, "Who are you?"

Other questions God might ask include "Where is your brother?" and "Do you want to be well?"

I like #2 a lot. Recently we had the reference to His easy yoke and light burden in the Mass readings. I hope we all understand that the yoke is an oxen's yoke (am I a "stiffed-necked" ox, not docile?) and that if we share the yoke with Him, He will do all the work as we go down the rows, and especially come to the sharp turns. Our fear is that if we accept His cross and yoke, it will be misery. He carries the misery. There is nothing to fear. We cannot carry half of misery and let our yoke-mate, a divine entity, carry the other half. He knows this and would not allow us to be instantly destroyed by trying to match Him. The Sacred Heart knows, pities, loves, and saves. All we do is assent. "Behold the Heart which has so loved men that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming Itself, in order to testify Its love..."
