40 Days For Life - Spring 2010

40 Days for Life (which was started here in Aggieland by Aggie Catholics) is starting the Fall 2010 campaign, From February 17 through March 28.  They are expecting it to be the largest one ever.

Of course, our local 40 Days for Life program is run by the Coalition for Life.  This update about the kick-off is from Shawn, the director of the Coalition:

The following news is VERY important...

For years the Coalition for Life has known that the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Bryan does surgical abortions and the controversial RU-486 abortion procedure. We know that Planned Parenthood is doing one or the other almost every day in Bryan, Texas.

What is a surgical abortion(vacuum aspiration)?

Vacuum aspiration is a surgical abortion procedure done during the first 4 to 14 weeks of gestation. The baby is dismembered and then removed from the uterus through a suction tube. Afterwards, all of the body parts must be accounted for to prevent infection.

Please pray for the two out-of-town abortionists who travel to Bryan to do this procedure. We will release their names via email in the near future so you can pray for their change of heart.

What is the RU-486 abortion procedure?

RU-486 is a drug that causes an abortion. The first drug blocks fluid and oxygen to the developing baby. The baby dies. A second drug is then given to induce the women into labor and the baby is expelled. Seven U.S. women are known to have died from RU-486 complications since 2000.

While it is tragic to know this goes on almost every day in our community, there is hope.

We have recently confirmed that at least 36% of women do NOT show up for their abortion appointment when a large number of community members are praying in front of the abortion facility.

Your peaceful presence works!
