What are you trying to do? Actually just putting in a nice header image and maybe a sidebar image or two does a lot. Keep maroon though. :)In somewhat related news, the Eastern Christian New Media Awards are now open for nominations. Some Eastern Catholics won last year, so I'm sure they'd enjoy a shout out.http://ecawards.blogspot.com/
I tried a header image and it kept a couple of funny corners around the image it for some reason.
Well, if you want to be really daring, I would give it the exact same format as you have over at aggiecatholic.org. It's a bit tedious, but you can use a lot of the same code, and if people surf over from St. Mary's, they can get back and vice versa. Of course, whoever does it will need to know a little CSS and html. Also, you might have had funny corners because of the way the rounded corners are created - they're actually just images of corners. If you go up to one of the corners of the header, right click just outside the image (but still inside the imaginary rectangle you could draw around the image), then select view background image, you'll see the image they use to make the corners (http://www2.blogblog.com/rounders2/corners_cap_top.gif).
I agree a good header can help a great deal...but I'm not tech savvy either. But you're at a big university! Maybe one of the campus ministry students is a computer science or graphic arts major? My husband is sold on the flexibility of wordpress, but my experience hasn't been great.
