Below is a quote from an article on Hillary Clinton's visit to view the tilma of St. Juan Diego with the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe on it.After observing it for a while, Mrs. Clinton asked “who painted it?” to which Msgr. Monroy responded “God!”Great answer, but I can't believe she asked.
Someone on her staff could have informed her of the story of origin.

This is assuming that she, or her staff, cares enough about our faith to make a well intentioned effort at learning about it.
Maybe we are not seeing the whole picture. Maybe the Lord used this as a "teachable moment". The real goody was that the Priest said "God" and not some politically correct answer. Our Lady has been dishonored more by a famous catholic college than any harm that came from this event. Hopefully,Mrs. Clinton was being sincere in making this gesture. It was very well received in Mexico. I will pray that it will bear good fruit. All things are possible with God.
In the back of my 61 year old mind there is a story about a famous atheist who was converted in an instant by visiting a statue of Our Lady.
